Why stage a home at all?

This goes to the fundamental reason for staging. Many people feel that staging helps prospective buyers envision themselves in the home and also helps them think about what a great furniture layout can be. We believe these things, too, but on a deeper level we believe that great staging makes prospective buyers feel delighted in a space. We want buyers (preferably multiple buyers) to walk into one of our stages and feel warm, safe and welcome, like they have to be there–that is what motivates buyers to purchase.

How much does it cost to stage a house in the Bay Area?

Each home has different attributes than another. They all have varying square footages, number of rooms, difficulty of access, and outdoor spaces and we quote each home individually after a physical walkthrough. However, our average stage price is $6,000–larger homes cost more to stage and smaller homes cost less.

Do most real estate agents pay for staging?

Everybody does it differently. Some agents pay for the stages outright while others finance the cost of staging and are reimbursed at escrow. Most of our jobs, though, are paid directly by the seller.

Do houses sell better staged or empty?

There is a lot of really great evidence that indicates staging increases the value of homes for sale and reduces time on market. The National Association of Realtors published a study in 2025 where agents interviewed suggested that staging added between 1% to 10% in home value and reduced time on market significantly.

What do people do with their stuff when staging a house?

Every situation is different because every seller’s situation is different. But, most sellers elect to remove all of their furniture from the home prior to staging. This allows the home to be painted, floors to be refinished, and also to be deep cleaned prior to staging. When the staging is installed, the home is fresh and bright and feels like a welcoming space to be in.
